Ms. Lusco is a single, vivacious, 51 year-old Birmingham native who has lost 63 pounds in the last 15 months after having had gastric by-pass surgery. She is the mother of two grown children and a Grandmother. The announcement was made Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the Southern Women's Show in Birmingham, Alabama, with JT of 94.5 making the announcement and ABC 33/40 covering the event.

JT asked Ms. Lusco what enticed her to enter the contest. She said that she really had not even thought about entering the contest but did only after the encouragement of her best friend. She did not really think she would win. She said being chosen was "Far and Beyond anything I would have ever dreamed of being able to do for myself". Ms. Lusco was visibly surprised and quite emotional when the announcement was made that she was the winner. She was understandably thrilled with the Judges decision.
Dr. Daniel Rousso of Rousso Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Paul Koch of Koch Aesthetic Dentistry, Peter Sims representing Oak Street Hair Group and Luan Nguyen from Fitness Together were all there to congratulate Liz on being selected.
Liz will now begin her transformation process beginning with her cosmetic dental procedures and personal fitness. She will be undergoing facial plastic surgery later this month.
